Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Gustavo Nieto moved to France in 1972. Driven by deep curiosity, he gravitated early toward the various forms of artistic expression. He graduated from the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1984 and continued his research at the Institute of Art Sciences at the Sorbonne (Paris I), where he developed an analytical approach at the crossroads of material behavior and its sonic manifestations.

Now a multimedia artist and installation designer, he creates systems that articulate language, norms, and intentionality—across plastic, sonic, physical, and video-based forms. For the past decade, his work has explored the gradual emergence of a "shared imaginary," which has become the core of his research. His practice unfolds as an evolving network of branching structures: between centrifugal movement and centripetal force, it is grounded in contemplative thought, constantly in dialogue with the overflow of the idea of art itself.

He is also a founding member of the In.Vo-call / Interface collective, dedicated to collaborative, interdisciplinary projects, and of D’en_sité / Interférants, a group of visual artists and designers exploring experimental practices.
